By challenging the body, as well as the mind and spirit, in a positive and rewarding environment, participants will discover that achieving and maintaining sobriety is desirable, possible, and achievable.
Maintaining physical fitness, as well as emotional and spiritual wellbeing, is essential for relapse prevention. For example, dedicated workout routines relieve stress, help to cope with cravings effectively, and boost the immune system.
The SOARFIT program follows a continuum of care model in which patients participate in services, based on their Individual Program, at the level of intensity needed to achieve and maintain sobriety. Typically, participants begin in our intensive outpatient treatment program and then step down to individual, family, and group therapy sessions. All participants are encouraged to stay involved with services through our relapse preventions program.
Based on the findings of the individual’s comprehensive initial assessment, the participant and the SOARFIT addiction treatment professional develop an Individualized Program Plan containing all or some of the following services:
Studies have demonstrated that when PEMF therapy is regularly used, it changes the body’s stress responses by directly acting on major related components, such as the endocrine and nervous systems, along with the cells or organs of the body.
In addition, PEMFs can make the body less reactive to extended episodes of stress. Transcranial PEMF was approved by the FDA in 2011 for treating severe, drug-resistant depression.
With the guidance of an addiction treatment specialist, participants process their experiences during recovery. During these sessions, group members and the facilitator reinforce positive thoughts and behaviors conducive to sustaining recovery, while developing coping skills and strategies to deal with challenges and obstacles that put the participant’s sobriety at risk.
While some participants initially resist embracing the concept that a higher power plays a role in their recovery, our substance abuse treatment specialists work with patients to develop an understanding about the impact addiction has on spirituality. Underlying this process is the principle that by accepting a higher power, participants gain a deeper understanding of who they are and their purpose in life.
Given addiction is a family disease, our addiction treatment professionals provide support and guidance to the participant’s family members throughout the recovery process. They provide professional guidance to help the participant’s loved ones learn how to make difficult decisions, rebuild trust, and integrate the principles of sobriety into their own lives.
By integrating exercise and physical activity into their recovery programs, participants make positive changes as their physical fitness improves, which improves their self-image and confidence. Through this process, program participants transform doubt into positive action. As people in recovery increase their strength, stamina, and endurance, they improve their ability to cope with both the emotional, social, and physical stressors that have the potential to jeopardize recovery.
These sessions act as booster to reinforce the skills and tools the person in recovery uses to maintain his or her sobriety.
